'07 Mini Cooper

The year 2007 the little hatchback finally increases its size, as the 2007 Mini Cooper gains in external and internal dimensions. The 2007 model year also has better performance in the sportier S trim level. However, the redesign does not need too much of restyling and primarily inherits the external features of the 2006 make.

The powertrain has a few significant upgrades in the 2007 Mini. The base models have an improved horsepower of 118hp. The supercharged version still delivers 168 horsepower. However, a six-speed automatic transmission is also a new addition, introduced to replace the CVT that used to be deployed earlier.

The 2007 Mini Cooper inherits most of the special features including the sunroof and ABS from the earlier makes. However, new additions include a package having improved trims for the interior as well as the exterior. A rear-side obstacle detection mechanism is provided in all the models.

The 2006 Mini Cooper continues to be available in an optional convertible mode. The primary (base) model is a power-packed hatchback that comes in two trims – the base trim having medium performance and the supercharged sportier version that boasts a tremendous boost in the horsepower from the base edition.

The engine of the base model of the 2006 Mini Cooper is an Inline-4 having a displacement of 1.4 liters. A similar engine is found in the sportier S trim level, save for the fact that the latter engine is provided with superchargers for optimal horsepower. The base I-4 provides 115hp while the S I-4 provides 168hp. New in the lineup is the JCW Tuning Kit that can boost the horsepower of S models to a booming 207hp.

The makeshift sunroof is inherited by the 2006 Mini Cooper from the 2005 model. Multiple airbags are standard to enhance the safety of passengers.

'05 Mini Cooper

Mini UK has yet again achieved another reason for triumph – the 2005 Mini Cooper is the perfect assemblage of features in a compact vehicle designed to deliver performance and comfort, almost literally in a nutshell. The 2005 model year introduces a convertible-style Cooper alongside the already existing hatchback model.

Small cars often have astounding surprises under the hood, and the 2005 Mini Cooper has just the features to make jaws drop. Who would have guessed that such a small car could actually have a supercharged engine – as the S trim level does? In fact, the 1.6-liter I-4 engine delivers a modest horsepower of 115hp and at the same time, powers up 168 horsepower in the supercharged S model.

The 2005 Mini Cooper has yet another tiny surprise for buyers. The “sunroof” of this vehicle opens by actually removing the top of the vehicle partly. ABS and rear-end obstacle detection are also included.
